At first glance, science fiction and fantasy can look like a straights-only city, populated by Luke Skywalkers, Frodos and the occasional buxom nd rabidly heterosexual female. Appearances, though, are deceiving. Book publishers were the first to forge shamelessly forward.

On the Earthling side is Jane a perfect Lisa Haasa sweet, unlucky-in-love store clerk surviving on fantasies and regular therapy. Bald as eggs and with gills secreted beneath their Elizabethan collars, the aliens hope to save their home by getting their hearts broken — a task at which humans are thought to excel. Photographed in crisp black and white by Nat Bouman, this enormously likable movie keeps sexual politics on the back burner and the universal search for connection front and center.

I wrote and directed and made this film by handwith alot of help from my friends. It's done well at festivals, including Sundance's Midnight in Park City. The film follows three lesbian aliens who have been sent to Earth.

Whether those cards represent ceaseless quirk, the can-do charm of a tight group of like-minded filmmakers, or abject horror will depend on the viewer. The double opening introduces our two protagonists, who are, of course, destined to meet. Olnek, who wrote as well as directed, seems to understand instinctively that, if the viewer cringes when the aliens first appear garrulous, spastic, awkward, and loudour response is, at least, mirrored in the faces of the Earthlings.
Three lesbian space aliens come to Earth, and one of the aliens, Zoinx, falls in love with an employee at a greeting card store named Jane. Jane shyly returns Zoinx's affection and they begin a romance, though Jane does not know that Zoinx is a space alien. In the meantime, Jane, Zoinx, and Zoinx's friends do not know that they may be in trouble: there are two government agents— men in black —monitoring Jane as she starts to become closer to a woman who the men feel does not belong on this planet.
